Toynbee Hall is based in the heart of the East End, providing services to thousands of residents in Tower Hamlets and beyond each year. Established in 1884, we aim to be the place where people come for excellent local services, and where they can share ideas and knowledge that we can use together to change lives and eradicate poverty in the UK.
We work with our community to identify the services they need to improve their lives, and provide an opportunity for them to take action on community issues. Our work is themed across four different programme areas :
- Learning, Financial Inclusion and,
Our service users are diverse, as we reach out to include young people, older people, women involved in street-based prostitution, new migrants, people who are financially excluded, people facing serious legal issues, as well as people from different communities. Our services are free of charge, and every year nearly 500 volunteers support us to deliver services and engage with communities across Tower Hamlets and the City of London.
Other services we provide include a lunch club for older people, debt advice services and welfare benefit advice.
